The African Democratic Congress has dismissed reports claiming it could be excluded from the 2027 general elections, describing the speculation as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party insisted there is no legal obstacle preventing it from participating in the upcoming elections despite recent discussions surrounding a Supreme Court ruling linked to its internal leadership dispute.

According to the ADC, the claims were designed to create confusion and weaken confidence in the party ahead of the 2027 polls. The party maintained that it remains fully compliant with Nigeria’s Constitution and Electoral Act and is actively strengthening its nationwide political structures.
The ADC also declared that it would not only field candidates in the next election but would present individuals it described as credible and capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

The opposition party reaffirmed its commitment to challenging the ruling administration of President Bola Tinubu and preventing what it called attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

It added that its focus remains on mobilising Nigerians frustrated by insecurity, rising living costs, and limited economic opportunities rather than being distracted by political rumours or defections involving prominent figures.

The party further urged supporters and members to ignore what it described as baseless claims, stressing that its mission to reposition the country remains its top priority ahead of the 2027 elections.
