The Board of Trustees (BoT) faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), headed by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, has announced plans to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting aimed at appointing a caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs.

Speaking during the group’s 84th BoT meeting in Abuja on Sunday, Wabara revealed that the faction had already secured the backing of two-thirds of NEC members ahead of the scheduled meeting on Monday.
According to him, the decision became necessary after the Supreme Court ruling of April 30 invalidated the 2025 national convention that produced the National Working Committee (NWC) under Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN).

Wabara stated that the judgment effectively left the party without a legally recognised national leadership, making it necessary for the BoT to step in and prevent a leadership crisis within the PDP.

He also maintained that the leadership camp reportedly supported by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike lacks legal recognition, stressing that the proposed caretaker committee would manage the party until a new national convention is conducted.
