The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hulayat Omidiran, has approved staff promotions and the payment of retirement benefits as part of efforts to improve welfare within the commission.
She made the announcement during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration held at the FCC headquarters in Abuja, where she addressed staff and management.
According to a statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Ademola Lawrence, Omidiran confirmed that funds had been approved for retirees, but noted that payments would be made in batches as government releases come in.
She urged patience among affected retirees, explaining that approval does not always translate to immediate payment.
On staff career progression, she directed that all pending promotions be concluded before the end of May 2026, stressing the importance of timely advancement for workforce motivation.
Omidiran also announced plans to strengthen internal communication within the commission through quarterly staff engagements and an annual end-of-year gathering aimed at improving unity and productivity.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the FCC Tripartite Union/Joint Negotiating Council, Benson Ameh, commended the leadership of the commission, saying it had helped restore confidence among staff.
Former President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Bobboi Bala Kaigama, also urged continued dialogue between management and workers to sustain industrial harmony.
The Director of Human Resources, Abubakar Tanimu, reaffirmed management’s commitment to staff development and building a more efficient and motivated workforce.
The celebration ended with renewed commitments from both management and staff to improve welfare, strengthen collaboration, and enhance the overall performance of the commission.
