Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has initiated a reconciliation move within the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling for a high-level meeting involving key party stakeholders, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, as part of efforts to strengthen unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor disclosed the plan shortly after receiving his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, which were jointly purchased for him by the Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners and the Benue Motorcycle Owners Association.
Alia said the proposed meeting is aimed at resolving internal disagreements within the APC in the state and fostering stronger collaboration among party members. He confirmed that invitations had been extended to Akume, members of the National Assembly, the State Assembly, and other party stakeholders.

According to him, all parties have agreed to attend the meeting scheduled for Sunday, with the goal of presenting a united front.
He stressed that unity within the party was essential, noting that internal divisions were far less significant than the shared political objectives of the APC in Benue State.
Alia also expressed confidence that reconciliation efforts would help consolidate support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that the party must build on its 2023 performance.

Beyond party politics, the governor defended his administration’s record, particularly in infrastructure and industrial development, stating that his government is working to revive key state-owned industries and attract new investments such as breweries and agro-processing facilities.
He further highlighted ongoing road and water projects across the state, including developments in the Benue South Senatorial District, as well as the rehabilitation of major water works in Makurdi, Gboko, and Katsina-Ala.

Alia also reiterated plans to improve housing and welfare for civil servants, insisting that his administration is focused on long-term development and continuity.
Earlier, representatives of pensioners and motorcyclists said they supported his re-election bid due to improvements in welfare and infrastructure delivery across the state.
