The development was disclosed in a notice published on the commission’s official website on Saturday.

According to the EFCC, Farouq, who is from Zamfara State, is being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct linked to her period in office. The commission also released her last known address in Maitama, Abuja, and appealed to the public to provide useful information that could assist in locating her.

The anti-graft agency included contact lines through which members of the public could report information concerning her whereabouts.

It was also gathered that an arrest warrant had earlier been issued against the former minister by a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on April 16, 2026.

Farouq was appointed into the federal cabinet in July 2019 by former President Muhammadu Buhari and served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development during his administration.

The case adds to the growing list of corruption investigations involving former government officials in Nigeria.
