The death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has continued to generate emotional reactions across Nigeria, with colleagues, fans, and associates paying tribute to the late movie star on social media.

The actor reportedly passed away on May 11 at a hospital in Lagos after battling Stage 4 liver cancer. Reports indicated that he was diagnosed with the illness in 2024 and later underwent a liver transplant before briefly returning to acting.
However, complications allegedly developed after the transplanted liver failed, leading to a deterioration in his condition before his death at the age of 40.

Medical reports have shown that liver cancer remains a serious health concern in Nigeria, with hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections identified as major risk factors. The disease is also regarded as one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths globally.

Following the actor’s passing, many Nigerians began seeking information on liver cancer prevention online. In response, medical doctor Sina Ajidahun shared important health tips to help reduce the risk of the disease.

In a post shared on his verified X account, the doctor advised Nigerians to avoid excessive alcohol consumption, get vaccinated against hepatitis B, avoid eating mouldy foods such as groundnuts and tomatoes, practice safe intimacy, avoid sharing needles, stop smoking, and go for regular medical screenings.
He stressed that early detection through proper testing and screening can help improve treatment outcomes and save lives.
