Unknown gunmen have killed a young couple, Mr. Iliya Gyang, 30, and his pregnant wife, Grace, 25, during a fresh attack in Angwan Ishaku community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening and also left two other residents injured before the attackers fled the scene.
A community member, Kacholom Ayuba, confirmed that the attack happened around 5:30 p.m., adding that residents were thrown into panic following the assault.

The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) also confirmed the incident in a statement, describing it as a brutal and inhumane act. The group said the attackers arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire on residents, and escaped through a route leading toward nearby settlements.
According to reports, Mr. Gyang was working on his farm near his home when he was attacked, while his wife was shot and died instantly at the scene. He later succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a hospital.

The association also revealed that the couple left behind one-year-old twin boys, now orphaned as a result of the attack.
BYM noted that the incident happened shortly after security meetings and a recent visit by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to the area, where renewed security measures were discussed.

The group expressed concern that despite government efforts, violent attacks continue in parts of Plateau State and called for stronger security operations, including coordinated raids in identified hotspots.
They also urged authorities to support the orphaned children and extended condolences to the grieving families.
