Vitel Wireless has announced a strategic partnership with leading Nigerian fintech companies OPay Limited and Moniepoint Limited to make airtime and data purchases more seamless for millions of users across the country.

The collaboration will allow customers of both fintech platforms to buy airtime and data for the Vitel Wireless network directly from their digital wallets or linked bank accounts, improving access to mobile services.
According to the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Chudi Nwabueze, the partnership is aimed at bridging the gap between financial services and telecommunications, particularly in underserved and rural communities. He noted that leveraging the large user bases of OPay and Moniepoint will help expand connectivity nationwide.

He explained that Vitel Wireless has also maintained similar collaborations with traditional banks such as Fidelity Bank and Zenith Bank, and is now extending its model to major fintech operators to improve service delivery and accessibility.
The Product Marketing Manager of Vitel Wireless, Odera Ben-Chiobi, said the initiative aligns with the company’s goal of promoting digital inclusion by making mobile connectivity more affordable and widely available across Nigeria.

She added that combining telecom services with fintech platforms will help create a more integrated digital ecosystem where users can easily access essential services.
Vitel Wireless, which operates across Nigeria through a partnership with MTN for shared radio infrastructure, said the initiative supports its mission of expanding network coverage and improving access in rural and underserved areas.
Both OPay and Moniepoint, two of Nigeria’s leading fintech companies with large customer bases and agent networks, are expected to play a key role in driving wider adoption of digital financial and telecom services across the country.
