Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus ticket for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He emerged unopposed during the party’s senatorial primary held at Methodist School, Ukana West Two Ward, in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where he stood as the sole aspirant for the ticket.
The primary drew a large turnout of party supporters and stakeholders who gathered to witness the confirmation of his candidacy.
Although he had no challenger, Akpabio still participated in the process alongside other party members, describing it as a reflection of unity and strong backing for the APC across the district.
After the exercise, he thanked party members and constituents for their continued confidence in his leadership at the National Assembly.
Party leaders also praised the conduct of the exercise, describing it as peaceful, orderly, and transparent.
