The Coalition of Eket Federal Constituency Youths has dismissed reports circulating in some local newspapers claiming that Mrs. Eunice Thomas won the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, describing the publications as false and misleading.
In a statement, the group said the reports were a deliberate attempt to distort the outcome of the primary election and mislead party members and the general public about what actually transpired in Eket Federal Constituency.
It insisted that the election was peacefully conducted under the supervision of security agencies and officials sent from Abuja, who monitored the process and announced the results.
According to the coalition, Obongawaan (Dr) Mrs. Judith Ogbara Mayen Etuk emerged winner of the contest with what it described as a clear and overwhelming margin over other aspirants.

The group added that supporters of Dr. Judith openly celebrated immediately after the declaration of results on Saturday night, noting that there was no protest or objection from rival camps at the time.
“It is shocking and unfortunate that days after a transparent exercise, some newspapers chose to publish a completely different narrative,” the statement said.
“We see such reports as a coordinated propaganda effort aimed at manipulating public perception and undermining the credibility of the process.”
The coalition said its members were present across the constituency during the primaries and could confirm that Dr. Judith won convincingly in all the areas where voting took place.
It urged residents of Eket, Onna, Esit Eket and Ibeno Local Government Areas to disregard the reports in circulation, insisting that they do not reflect the reality of the exercise.
“Our position is based on what we witnessed and the official declaration made by returning officers from Abuja. No amount of misinformation can change the outcome already known to party members and the public,” the group stated.
The coalition also expressed confidence that the APC national secretariat would soon release the official list of successful candidates and issue certificates of return to duly elected flag bearers.
It warned against spreading misinformation that could heighten political tensions, urging all stakeholders to respect due process and maintain peace within the constituency.
