According to the statement, Professor Aina is a Computer Engineering scholar at Obafemi Awolowo University with strong expertise in digital systems, national examination infrastructure, and public sector reform.

The Presidency described him as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in Computer Engineering, noting that he will become the youngest Registrar in JAMB’s history when he assumes office at 39, shortly before turning 40 in July.

It added that he brings more than 15 years of professional experience in advising government institutions on digital transformation, institutional restructuring, and systems design.

The statement also highlighted his previous consulting engagements with examination bodies such as the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), particularly in ICT systems and examination integrity.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on the reforms introduced under the outgoing Registrar and further strengthen the operations of the examination body.

The Presidency noted that his appointment reflects trust in his technical expertise and leadership capacity to improve JAMB’s efficiency and credibility.

Professor Aina obtained his engineering degree from the University of Kent, followed by postgraduate studies at Loughborough University, where he earned advanced qualifications in computing and digital systems engineering.

He also completed his National Youth Service Corps programme with JAMB in 2010, gaining early exposure to the institution he is now set to lead.

Over the years, he has combined academic work with entrepreneurship and consultancy, co-founding an IT solutions company and contributing to various digital transformation projects.

At Obafemi Awolowo University, he currently teaches and conducts research in areas including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital signal processing, and human-computer interaction.

He also holds key administrative roles, including coordinating a TETFund Centre focused on digital literacy and emerging technologies.

Aina is a member of several professional bodies, including COREN, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, IEEE, and the Nigerian Computer Society.

The Presidency further stated that his leadership is expected to advance ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system, particularly in digital examinations and data-driven processes.
