‘UNBELIEVABLE SITUATION’ — OSIMHEN BLOCKED FROM CHELSEA, BARCELONA MEGA TRANSFERS

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has made it clear that the Turkish champions have no intention of selling Victor Osimhen this summer, despite growing interest from top European clubs including Chelsea and Barcelona.

The Nigerian striker has rediscovered top form since joining Galatasaray, delivering a standout 2024/25 season that helped the Istanbul giants secure both the Turkish Super Lig title and the domestic cup. His impact was so significant that the club moved quickly to keep him permanently, even though the deal placed a heavy financial burden on them.

At the time, Napoli reportedly demanded €75 million for the Super Eagles forward — a record-breaking fee in Turkish football, where no club had previously spent anywhere close to that amount on a single player.

Despite the financial pressure, Galatasaray went all in. The transfer was structured in instalments, with club president Özbek also revealing that he personally supported the deal financially to help push it through.

The decision has already paid off. Osimhen has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s recent success, including a strong UEFA Champions League run and another domestic title. His goals, energy, and aggressive playing style have made him a fan favourite in Istanbul.

However, his performances have now attracted fresh attention from Europe’s biggest clubs. Teams in England, Spain, Italy, and France are all reportedly monitoring the 27-year-old striker ahead of the summer window.

But Galatasaray remain firm on their stance.

Speaking about the transfer saga, Özbek described the deal as one of the most difficult he has ever handled, praising Osimhen’s commitment and performance since arriving at the club.

“We initially signed Victor Osimhen on loan, and he performed magnificently,” Özbek said. “He loves Galatasaray and Türkiye. He said he would stay, and we started negotiations with Napoli.

“He has a €75 million release clause, and the process was very challenging. Napoli even demanded strong guarantees. It was unlike anything I’ve seen before. I also had to contribute through my own company to make it happen.”

He added that Osimhen has fully justified the investment with his performances.

“Now he is making a new generation of Galatasaray fans. We are very happy we signed him… We do not intend to sell Victor Osimhen.”

Despite that strong statement, interest from Europe remains intense. Chelsea are currently viewed as the most serious Premier League contenders, while Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United are also tracking the situation.

In Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are both admirers, with Atlético Madrid also reportedly seeing Osimhen as a strong tactical fit. Juventus, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be monitoring developments.

However, Galatasaray’s valuation is expected to be a major hurdle, with reports suggesting only offers above €100 million would even be considered. His wage demands could also further complicate any potential move.
