“Tinubu’s Ancestral Home Is My State” — Adeleke Defends Open Support For President

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has explained why he openly supports President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general election, saying his decision is driven by moral responsibility and ongoing developmental efforts in the South-West.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway project on Sunday, Adeleke praised the Federal Government for supporting key infrastructure projects across Osun State and neighbouring states.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said his endorsement of President Tinubu goes beyond politics and is also tied to the relationship between Osun State and the President.

Adeleke noted that the ongoing road projects would improve transportation, boost commercial activities, and strengthen economic development across the region.

He stressed that leaders who support projects capable of positively impacting the lives of citizens deserve recognition, regardless of political differences.

According to the governor, the Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway remains one of the most important infrastructure projects in the South-West because of its strategic importance in connecting major cities and easing movement across states.

Adeleke also said the Federal Government’s involvement in developmental projects within Osun State influenced his decision to support Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid.

He added that Osun State shares a deep historical connection with the President, describing the state as Tinubu’s ancestral home.

“I am the governor of the ancestral birthplace of Mr President. How can I have my own in the saddle and think twice before embracing him?” Adeleke said.
