A former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has announced his departure from the All Progressives Congress, with the resignation taking immediate effect.

In a statement shared through his official social media accounts and conveyed by his media aide, Sunday Areh, the senator confirmed that he is stepping away from the party after consultations with his political allies and supporters, particularly over recent developments within the APC in Delta State.

He explained that his decision was driven by the belief that his political goals, as well as the interests of his constituents, would be better advanced outside the ruling party. He stressed that he would no longer remain in a position where he felt unable to effectively push for the needs of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria as a whole.

The former Senate leader expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, while requesting that his name be removed from all party records and communication channels. He added that his commitment to development and representation for his constituency remains unchanged, even as he continues his political journey outside the party.
