“I Have Four Grandchildren in Captivity” — Elderly Woman Pleads with Makinde After Ogbomoso School Attack
An elderly woman has made a passionate appeal to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, following the abduction of five members of her family during a deadly school attack in Ogbomoso.
In a viral emotional video, the distraught woman said four of her grandchildren — all nursery school pupils — and her daughter-in-law, who is a teacher, were among those kidnapped by armed attackers.
“I have four grandchildren who are in nursery school, and my son’s wife, who is a teacher, is currently being held captive by those kidnappers,” she said, breaking down in tears as she begged authorities for urgent intervention.
The attack reportedly occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026, when armed bandits on motorcycles stormed LA Primary School and Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Eyewitness accounts said the gunmen arrived in large numbers, firing shots indiscriminately and throwing the communities into panic as pupils, teachers, and residents ran for safety. Several people were abducted during the invasion, while reports also claim that a teacher was killed in the attack.
According to disturbing accounts circulating online, one of the victims was allegedly beheaded while in captivity, further heightening fear and anger within the affected communities.
The grieving woman also alleged that her daughter-in-law was seen in a video released by the kidnappers, in which one of the abducted school principals was forced to plead for government intervention and the release of the victims.
Reports further suggest that about 46 persons, including a two-year-old child, were taken during the raid, raising serious concerns over the scale and brutality of the attack.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage across Oyo State and beyond, with renewed calls on government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and strengthen protection around schools and rural communities.
