The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a post on social media, stating that the operations were carried out in multiple locations including Agege, Oshodi, CMS, Lekki, and Ajah.

According to him, initial raids in Agege and Oshodi led to the arrest of 22 individuals, including adults and a few teenagers. In a separate operation around CMS, authorities also picked up 14 adults and 9 children.

He added that additional clearance exercises were still ongoing in areas such as Admiralty Way in Lekki and Addo Road in Ajah, as part of broader efforts to sanitize public spaces across the state.

Wahab later confirmed that the total number of persons arrested across all locations had reached 144.

The latest enforcement exercise comes amid renewed government action targeting street begging, illegal highway activities, and other environmental offences in Lagos. The state had previously recorded thousands of arrests linked to various sanitation and public order violations over the past year.
