Following the successful rescue of the sister of the Minister of Power, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons, fresh details have emerged regarding some of the suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction.

The victims were rescued during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan, Oyo State, after several days in captivity.
Mrs. Adegoke and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, while she was reportedly taking the children to school.

Police authorities disclosed that the rescue mission followed extensive intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical planning that enabled security operatives to trace the suspects to their hideout.
During the operation, officers engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle after locating the facility where the victims were being held. One of the suspects was reportedly discovered hiding inside the ceiling of the building before being apprehended by the operatives.

Authorities said investigations are continuing as security personnel intensify efforts to track down and arrest other members of the criminal network who escaped during the raid. Preliminary findings suggest that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained injuries while escaping.
The Inspector-General of Police praised the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and determination, noting that their efforts were crucial to the safe recovery of the victims.
The rescue has been widely welcomed by members of the public and stakeholders, particularly as concerns over kidnapping and violent crimes continue to grow in several parts of the country.
