IRAN FIRES MISSILES AT ISRAEL IN FIRST MAJOR TEST OF FRAGILE CEASEFIRE

Iran has fired a series of missiles toward Israel, marking the first such attack since the April ceasefire agreement between Israel, Iran, and the United States came into effect.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) described the operation as the beginning of “a full week of continuous strikes,” signalling the possibility of sustained military action.

Israeli authorities confirmed that the incoming missiles were intercepted in northern Israel, with no immediate reports of casualties or injuries.

The escalation comes after Israel previously carried out strikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Beirut, a move that heightened tensions and prompted warnings of retaliation from Iran.

Israeli military officials condemned the attack, with a spokesperson stating that Iran had made a “grave mistake” and warning that Israel would not tolerate continued missile fire targeting its territory.

Military sources in Israel also confirmed that air defence systems were activated nationwide, while senior defence leadership held emergency assessments in response to the situation.

In parallel statements, Israeli officials indicated that the country remains prepared for the possibility of further attacks, while continuing operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

International reactions have also begun to emerge, with reports indicating calls from former U.S. President Donald Trump urging Iran to de-escalate and return to negotiations.

The latest exchange marks a renewed spike in tensions across the Middle East, particularly in connection with ongoing Israeli military activity in Lebanon and the broader regional rivalry involving Iran and its allies.

Security analysts warn that the situation remains highly fluid, with both sides signalling readiness for further military action if provocations continue.
