The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of 173 suspects linked to terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and murder across the country within one week, according to its operational situation report covering June 8 to June 14, 2026.
The report, obtained on Sunday, also revealed that security operatives rescued at least 32 kidnapped victims during various coordinated operations carried out in different parts of the country.

In addition, police officers recovered 33 firearms, including AK-47 rifles and pump-action guns, as well as more than 450 rounds of live ammunition from suspected criminal groups. Authorities also recovered 38 vehicles believed to have been used in criminal activities, alongside a number of rustled cattle.
The Force further confirmed that 13 suspected criminals were killed during armed confrontations with security operatives in the course of ongoing operations nationwide.

According to the breakdown provided, the arrests were recorded across multiple states, with Delta State accounting for the highest number, followed by Imo, Ekiti, and the Federal Capital Territory, among others. Some states, including Katsina, Kogi, Sokoto, and Zamfara, recorded no arrests during the reporting period.
Police said the rescued victims were freed through sustained intelligence-led operations and bush-combing exercises conducted across several high-risk areas.

The report noted that these operations form part of ongoing efforts by the Force to combat violent crimes, improve public safety, and strengthen national security.
It added that the Nigeria Police Force continues to pursue institutional reforms and enhanced operational strategies aimed at improving response to emerging threats.

Authorities also highlighted stronger collaboration with the military and local vigilante groups, stating that joint operations have improved the effectiveness and reach of security interventions across the country.
According to the Force, this multi-agency approach has significantly boosted crime-fighting efforts, enabling better protection of lives and property while supporting broader national stability objectives.
