ADC PICKS AMAECHI AS ATIKU’S RUNNING MATE

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, where he will run alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The decision was disclosed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, following what the party described as wide-ranging consultations with stakeholders across different levels of the organisation.

According to the party, Amaechi’s selection was influenced by his strong showing in the party’s presidential primaries, where he emerged as runner-up, as well as his long record of public service.

The ADC noted that Amaechi’s political career spans legislative and executive experience, including his time as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor of Rivers State, and later Minister of Transportation at the federal level.

The party stated that his governance experience and involvement in major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport sector, make him a valuable addition to its presidential ticket.

It added that the pairing of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi represents a strategic alliance aimed at building a broad-based national coalition capable of addressing Nigeria’s current challenges.

The ADC further described the joint ticket as one that brings together experienced political figures with complementary strengths across different regions of the country.

According to the party, the combination is expected to strengthen its appeal across geopolitical zones and enhance its chances ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party also called on members, coalition partners, civil society groups, and supporters nationwide to rally behind the new ticket as it prepares for the upcoming electoral contest.

The ADC expressed confidence that the Atiku-Amaechi partnership would provide leadership focused on national unity, economic recovery, security improvement, and inclusive development.
