The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been threatened with legal action over allegations that he acquired all nomination forms of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for various elective positions in Kano State.

The allegation was raised on Sunday by the Kano State Chairman of the PRP, Abdulkadir Musa Guza, during a press conference held in Kano.
Guza claimed that the development has left many party aspirants uncertain, especially those who had already paid for nomination forms and were preparing to contest different political offices under the PRP platform.

He explained that he had travelled to Kaduna for a party retreat, where he also intended to collect nomination forms for aspirants in Kano. However, he said he was informed that all available forms had already been purchased by a single individual.
According to him, when he sought clarification from the party’s national leadership, he was told that Kwankwaso was behind the purchase, amid discussions about his possible defection to the PRP.

Guza further alleged that after several days without any confirmation of Kwankwaso joining the party, suspicions arose that the action may have been politically motivated and not linked to any genuine defection plan.
He warned that the PRP could pursue legal action if the nomination forms were not returned before the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that the situation has created internal tension within the party.

The PRP chairman also claimed that similar issues were affecting other political parties, suggesting wider concerns over the handling of nomination processes.
As of the time of this report, Kwankwaso had not responded to the allegations, and no documentary evidence has been publicly presented by the PRP to substantiate the claims.
The dispute comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as parties intensify efforts to attract influential figures and strengthen their electoral chances.
