ATIKU CAMP BLAMES FOREIGN TRIP FOR DELAY IN UNVEILING AMAECHI AS RUNNING MATE

The camp of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has clarified the reason for the delay in officially unveiling former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate for the 2027 general election.

According to a statement shared on X by one of Atiku’s media aides, Abdulrasheed Shehu, the delay is due to Atiku’s current foreign travel schedule. However, the aide did not disclose the country the former vice president visited.

The clarification followed online speculation suggesting internal disagreement within the ADC and claims that Amaechi had not accepted the offer.

Responding to the rumours, Shehu insisted that the arrangement between Atiku and Amaechi was already settled, adding that the official unveiling would take place shortly after Atiku returns from his trip.

He dismissed the reports of tension within the party as false and urged the public to disregard what he described as misinformation circulating online.

The development comes amid earlier uncertainty surrounding the party’s selection of a running mate ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
