‘UNBEATEN IRAN WILL BE REMEMBERED FOREVER,’ DECLARES COACH GHALENOEI

Iran head coach Amir Ghalenoei has praised his players for their resilience at the FIFA World Cup, stating that their unbeaten run will be remembered for years because of the challenges the team has faced both before and during the tournament.

Iran secured a goalless draw against Belgium on Sunday after opening their Group G campaign with another draw against New Zealand, keeping their hopes of advancing to the knockout stage alive.

Ghalenoei explained that the team endured difficult circumstances in the months leading up to the competition. He noted that domestic football activities were heavily disrupted, while several planned friendly matches were cancelled, affecting the team’s preparations.

The coach also highlighted ongoing logistical challenges at the tournament. With the team camped in Mexico, Iran must travel to the United States shortly before matches and return immediately afterward due to visa restrictions.

Iran are scheduled to face Egypt in their final group-stage match in Seattle on Friday. Ghalenoei expressed hope that the team would be allowed to arrive earlier for the fixture, although discussions on the matter are still ongoing.

Despite the obstacles, the Iranian coach commended his players for their commitment and determination. He said the team had limited preparation time before matches but still managed to remain unbeaten, describing the achievement as a significant moment in the country’s football history.

According to Ghalenoei, the players’ efforts under such demanding conditions will be remembered by future generations and serve as an inspiration for Iranian football.
