The Lagos State Police Command has intercepted a truck loaded with military camouflage uniforms and suspected illicit substances, while also rescuing 38 foreign nationals during separate security operations across the state.
The operation led to the seizure of an unregistered MAN diesel truck carrying 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of substances believed to be illegal drugs. Security operatives also recovered firearms, live ammunition, mobile phones suspected to be proceeds of crime, vehicle engine control units and other exhibits linked to criminal activities.

Three suspects identified as Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi, Chinedu David and Ezeagwu Chukwuma were arrested in connection with the intercepted shipment. Preliminary investigations indicated that the consignment was being transported to the eastern part of the country, although authorities are still investigating its source, intended recipients and purpose.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, said the recovery demonstrates the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and public safety. He noted that investigators are working to determine whether the uniforms were intended for criminal use, particularly given concerns about criminals disguising themselves in military attire.

In a separate operation, police rescued 38 foreign nationals from a potential mob attack in the Epe area of Lagos. The group included citizens of Chad, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Mali, Togo, Cameroon and Ghana. Authorities said many of those involved were unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding their activities in Nigeria.
According to the police, the matter has been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service and the relevant embassies for profiling and further investigation. Officials said efforts would continue to monitor suspicious activities involving foreign nationals and other potential security threats.
The police command reaffirmed its determination to combat crime through proactive intelligence gathering, strategic operations and collaboration with relevant security agencies.
