The “Top in the World” category honors students who attain the highest marks globally in individual subjects. Several Nigerian learners secured the distinction, reinforcing the country’s growing reputation for academic excellence on the international stage.

In addition to the global winners, 77 students received “Top in Nigeria” awards for achieving the highest scores nationwide in specific subjects, while 56 others earned High Achievement Awards for exceptional performances in less commonly taken courses.

Seven learners were also recognized with Best Across Awards for attaining the highest combined scores across multiple subjects, highlighting their consistency and academic excellence.

Speaking at the event, education stakeholders praised the students’ achievements and emphasized the importance of developing skills beyond examination success. They noted that international education programmes help learners build critical thinking, communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities needed for future careers.

Officials also highlighted the growing success of Nigerian students in Cambridge examinations, noting that they compete directly with candidates from countries around the world under the same assessment standards.

The ceremony further underscored the role of teachers, parents, and schools in supporting student achievement, with education leaders describing the awards as evidence of the continuous improvement in the quality of international education offered in Nigeria.

Several award recipients attributed their success to disciplined study habits, consistent revision, supportive teachers, and early preparation. School administrators also hailed the achievements as proof that Nigerian students can excel on the global academic stage when provided with the right learning environment and guidance.

Education experts added that as technology continues to transform learning, strong subject knowledge remains essential, even in an era increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence and emerging global challenges.
