PRP DISMISSES CLAIMS KWANKWASO PURCHASED 69 NOMINATION FORMS AS ‘PURE FICTION’

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has denied reports alleging that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso purchased 69 nomination forms through the party in Kano State, describing the claim as false and politically motivated.

The controversy emerged after an individual identified as the party’s Kano State chairman reportedly claimed that dozens of nomination forms had been bought for candidates associated with Kwankwaso. However, the party’s national leadership has rejected the allegation and questioned the legitimacy of the individual behind it.

Speaking during a television interview, PRP National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said the party had no knowledge of the person making the claim and insisted he held no official position within the organisation.

According to Baba-Ahmed, nomination forms are issued through the party’s national headquarters and not at the state level, making the allegation impossible. He added that all legitimate candidates in Kano had already completed the party’s nomination process and emerged through established procedures.

The PRP chairman said he personally discussed the matter with Kwankwaso, noting that both were surprised by the allegation. He stressed that Kwankwaso is not a member of the party and therefore could not have purchased forms on behalf of candidates within the PRP.

Baba-Ahmed also revealed that both Peter Obi and Kwankwaso previously held discussions with the PRP about the possibility of joining the party ahead of its presidential primary. However, the talks did not result in an agreement, leading both politicians to pursue their political ambitions elsewhere.

Addressing concerns about internal divisions, he maintained that the party had overcome earlier administrative challenges and was now fully focused on preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He explained that issues surrounding the recognition of the party’s convention had been resolved and dismissed suggestions that legal action by one of the party’s members against the emergence of presidential candidate Donald Duke reflected a crisis within the organisation.

According to Baba-Ahmed, the party’s internal appeal mechanisms were followed and the dispute was reviewed before the matter proceeded to court, describing the process as a normal feature of democratic politics.

Looking ahead, he said the PRP intends to present itself as a viable alternative to Nigeria’s major political parties by offering fresh ideas and practical solutions to national challenges. He disclosed that the party would soon unveil its manifesto outlining its plans for governance and the 2027 elections.

On the issue of insecurity, Baba-Ahmed argued that Nigeria needs a more coordinated strategy to address terrorism, banditry and other security threats. He said any effective approach must balance law enforcement with dialogue where appropriate while ensuring justice for victims and accountability for offenders.

He emphasized that protecting the lives and property of Nigerians must remain the government’s top priority.
