HEIRS ENERGIES SETS REAL TIME MONITORING AT OML 17.

The Heirs Energies OML 17 Joint Venture has launched its Integrated Operations Monitoring Centre (IOMC), a modern digital facility developed in partnership with Redtech to improve the monitoring, management and optimisation of upstream oil and gas operations.

The company said the new centre marks a major step in its drive to enhance operational efficiency through innovation and technology. It combines production monitoring, operational intelligence, security surveillance, hydrocarbon evacuation, facility performance and critical asset data into one integrated platform.

According to the company, the project is the result of a collaboration between Heirs Energies, the operator of OML 17, and Redtech, the technology arm of Heirs Holdings Group. The platform is designed to improve operational visibility, strengthen collaboration and enable quicker decision-making across the OML 17 asset.

Speaking during the unveiling, the Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Energies, Osa Igiehon, said the monitoring centre provides real-time oversight of operations, allowing the company to make faster and more informed decisions while improving efficiency.

He noted that the future of upstream oil and gas operations will rely heavily on data, digital technology and intelligent decision-making, adding that the new facility reflects the company’s commitment to building safer, smarter and more resilient operations.

The company explained that the Integrated Operations Monitoring Centre serves as the central digital hub for the joint venture by bringing together operational information from multiple systems into a unified platform. This supports proactive decision-making, production optimisation, asset integrity management and improved control of operational risks.

It also stated that the facility strengthens security across remote assets within OML 17 through advanced surveillance and intruder detection systems, enabling continuous monitoring, early identification of potential threats and quicker emergency response.

Beyond its current capabilities, the company said the centre has been built to support future technologies such as predictive analytics, remote operations, artificial intelligence-powered decision support and advanced production optimisation.

Redtech’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Ojo, described the project as an example of how technology can solve operational challenges and improve business performance.

According to him, the platform demonstrates the impact of digital innovation in creating connected operations, intelligent monitoring and faster operational response, while contributing to greater efficiency across Africa’s energy industry.

The company also highlighted that since taking over the operatorship of OML 17 in 2021, Heirs Energies has significantly improved the asset through its Brownfield Excellence strategy. Oil production has risen to more than 50,000 barrels per day, while domestic gas supply has increased to over 135 million standard cubic feet per day alongside improvements in operational reliability.

It added that the launch of the Integrated Operations Monitoring Centre marks the next stage of its digital transformation strategy, placing advanced technology at the centre of field operations to support safer, more efficient and technology-driven energy production.
