U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran following reports of public calls for his assassination during the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a development that has further heightened tensions between the two countries.
In a post shared on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump claimed the United States was fully prepared to respond if any attempt was made on his life or that of any serving American president.
According to him, the U.S. has a large number of missiles ready for deployment against Iran and warned that any attack on him or a sitting U.S. president would trigger an overwhelming military response.
“If they assassinate me or any sitting President of the United States of America, America will completely decimate them,” Trump stated.
He added that the U.S. military had already received standing orders and was fully prepared to launch decisive action against Iran if necessary.
The warning came after the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in an airstrike at the beginning of the Iran conflict on February 28. His burial took place this week following several days of funeral ceremonies held across Iran and Iraq.
Trump also declared that the United States would “completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran,” emphasizing his administration’s readiness to act if threatened.
His latest remarks came just one day after agreeing to continue diplomatic talks with Iran, despite maintaining that the ceasefire had effectively collapsed only weeks after both countries signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting peace.
