ABIODUN PRESENTS ADEOLA TO IJEBU ROYAL FATHERS, SAYS EQUITY, COMPETENCE GUIDED HIS CHOICE

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has officially introduced the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and his running mate, Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, to the Ijebu Traditional Council as part of consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The meeting, held on Friday at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode, formed part of the governor’s engagement with key stakeholders following Senator Adeola’s emergence as the APC candidate.

Speaking before the traditional rulers, Abiodun said his endorsement of Adeola was based on fairness and competence, noting that Ogun West Senatorial District deserves the opportunity to produce the state’s governor for the first time since Ogun State was created five decades ago.

He explained that his goal was not to install a successor who would serve as a proxy for a third term but to identify a capable leader who would continue the developmental strides achieved by his administration.

According to the governor, Senator Adeola possesses the leadership qualities required to sustain ongoing projects and move the state forward.

Abiodun also recalled the support and prayers he received from the traditional institution before the 2019 governorship election and appealed to the royal fathers to extend the same goodwill to the APC governorship candidate.

He further described the deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, as an accomplished professional whose corporate experience would strengthen the incoming administration.

Highlighting achievements recorded in Ijebuland, the governor pointed to the reconstruction of the Ijebu-Ode-Epe Road, the Federal Government’s takeover of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), and ongoing infrastructure and economic development projects in Ogun Waterside.

He added that Ogun Waterside, which had experienced years of neglect, is now benefiting from significant government attention through various developmental initiatives.

In his remarks, Senator Adeola promised to build on the accomplishments of the current administration while pursuing major projects aimed at unlocking the economic potential of Ogun State.

Among his priorities, he listed efforts to make Ogun an oil-producing state through commercial oil exploration, facilitate the development of a deep seaport, and revive the Olokola Liquefied Natural Gas (OKLNG) project.

Adeola also pledged to support the campaign for the creation of Ijebu State and ensure that Ijebuland continues to receive adequate government attention and infrastructure development.

Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Acting Chairman of the Ijebu Traditional Council and Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba, assured the governor of the council’s support for Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition.

He also expressed the royal fathers’ support for Governor Abiodun’s Ogun East Senatorial ambition, saying continuity in leadership would help sustain ongoing development across the district.

The event was attended by APC leaders and stakeholders from the state’s three senatorial districts and concluded with special prayers and royal blessings for Governor Abiodun, Senator Adeola and Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun ahead of the 2027 elections.
