DSS, POLICE INTELLIGENCE TRAIL ENDS IN OSUN AS ALLEGED FAKE PFIPC DG ADEYEMI IS ARRESTED

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Adeyemi was apprehended in Osun State after failing to appear in court for his arraignment on an eight-count charge involving alleged conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

Justice Mohammed Umar issued the bench warrant after the prosecution informed the court that the defendant was absent when the case was called. The case is listed under suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025.

During the proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Wisdom Madaki, urged the court to issue a warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest due to his absence.

His lawyer, Genesis Francis, opposed the application, arguing that his client stayed away from court because he feared for his safety and had written to President Bola Tinubu over alleged threats to his life. Francis maintained that Adeyemi wanted to remain alive to defend himself against the charges.

In response, Justice Umar stated that the court would ensure his safety before granting the prosecution’s request and ordering his arrest. The matter was subsequently adjourned until September 30, 2026, for arraignment.

The arrest was confirmed by the Personal Assistant to the Force Public Relations Officer, Aminu Koji, who disclosed that operatives of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) arrested Adeyemi in Osun State.

Police investigations revealed that Adeyemi is facing charges alongside two other suspects identified as Femi and Anu, who remain at large.

The defendants are accused of conspiracy, forgery and impersonation linked to the activities of the PFIPC, an organisation the Presidency has consistently stated was never established by the Federal Government.

Security sources disclosed that Adeyemi had been under surveillance for over a week before his arrest. Investigators reportedly experienced difficulties tracking him after his mobile phones were switched off for about two days.

After operatives of the Department of State Services reportedly withdrew from the operation, the Police Intelligence Response Team continued the investigation, leading to his arrest in Osun State. The operation was reportedly coordinated by CSP Moses Lohor.

According to security sources, Adeyemi was arrested on Tuesday morning before being transported through Ibadan to Abuja for further investigation.

The Osun State Police Command also confirmed the arrest but did not provide additional details.

Adeyemi has continued to deny all allegations, insisting that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council was lawfully established. However, the Presidency has accused him of forging appointment letters and official documents to falsely present himself as the head of a government agency.
