Gunmen have abducted the principal of Government Secondary School, Olowa, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official during an attack on the school in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday while students were writing the ongoing NECO examination.

According to security sources, the armed attackers stormed the school premises, creating panic among students and staff before whisking the victims away to an unknown location.
Following the attack, a joint team of security personnel launched a search-and-rescue operation to track down the kidnappers and secure the victims’ release.

Security sources confirmed that one of the abducted students has since been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to free the school principal, the NECO official and the remaining three students.

Details surrounding the rescue of the student have not yet been made public.
Security operatives have also intensified bush-combing operations, intelligence gathering and surveillance in communities surrounding the school in a bid to locate the kidnappers’ hideout.

The ongoing operation is focused on rescuing the remaining victims, arresting those behind the attack and restoring normalcy to the affected community.
