Vice President Kashim Shettima has travelled to Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The summit, taking place at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre, will bring together West African leaders, government officials, ministers, and representatives of regional institutions to discuss key issues affecting the sub-region.
Shettima is expected to participate alongside political and business leaders in deliberations focused on strengthening regional cooperation and adopting policies that promote peace, democracy, economic growth, and deeper regional integration.
The meeting is part of ECOWAS’ regular mid-year engagements, where member states assess progress on shared priorities, including security, governance, trade, infrastructure development, economic integration, and sustainable development.
The summit comes at a time when West Africa continues to address security concerns, political transitions, and initiatives aimed at enhancing economic collaboration across the region.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, the Vice President is expected to return to Abuja.
