The 2027 vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has stated that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will serve only one term if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Kwankwaso said he has confidence in Obi’s integrity, expressing belief that the former Anambra State governor will honour his commitment to step down after a single four-year term.
Speaking during a television interview on Monday, Kwankwaso disclosed that both he and Obi signed a formal agreement outlining the one-term arrangement. According to him, the party also has a separate documented agreement on the same commitment.
He explained that the agreement provides for the presidency to return to the North after the completion of the proposed single term.
Kwankwaso maintained that he has no reason to doubt Obi’s sincerity, insisting that he expects the former governor to remain faithful to the agreement if elected into office.
