AMAZON TYCOON JEFF BEZOS IN LINE TO BECOME LIVERPOOL’S NEXT CO-OWNER

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has reportedly been approached to join an investment consortium considering the purchase of a minority stake in Liverpool FC, although it remains unclear whether the billionaire will participate in the proposed deal.

The investor group, led by businessman Amit Bhatia, is currently in discussions with Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the club’s owners, over a potential investment that could value Liverpool at more than $6 billion.

The consortium is said to be targeting a stake of up to 30% in the Premier League club. As part of preparations for the proposed investment, Bhatia has reportedly sold his interest in Championship club Queens Park Rangers to avoid potential multi-club ownership issues.

Jeff Bezos, whose wealth ranks among the highest in the world, has previously shown interest in owning major sports franchises, including NFL teams, but has not completed any acquisitions.

Fenway Sports Group, which has owned Liverpool since 2010, has been exploring opportunities to attract outside investment as the club enters a new era under manager Andoni Iraola ahead of the 2026–27 season.

Analysts believe the proposed investment aligns with FSG’s long-term strategy of bringing in strategic partners while maintaining control of the club. Even if Bezos chooses not to join the consortium, reports indicate that the investor group remains financially capable of completing the transaction.

If the deal goes ahead, the fresh investment is expected to strengthen Liverpool’s financial position by supporting infrastructure projects, reducing debt, and creating greater financial flexibility for future sporting and commercial growth. The addition of experienced global investors could also help expand the club’s international business operations and digital presence.
