The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced three individuals accused of involvement in the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State to life imprisonment.
The suspects were apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) following a prolonged investigation involving intelligence operations, surveillance, and cooperation with other security agencies.
The defendants, identified as Abdulrazak Umar, also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid; Yunusa Musa, also known as Yunusa bin Musa; and Shamsu Adamu Sani, also known as Abu Itisar, were brought before the court on Thursday on a 10-count charge linked to terrorism-related offences.
According to the charge documents, the suspects, who are from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, allegedly worked with other individuals, including Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed, and Ibrahim Khabab, in a plot carried out between January and May 2026 to abduct schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
The court’s ruling followed legal proceedings over their alleged roles in the kidnapping incident, which raised concerns over the safety of schools and communities in the area.
The conviction represents another major step in ongoing efforts by security agencies and the judiciary to prosecute individuals accused of terrorism and organised criminal activities.
