The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has dismissed as unlawful and politically motivated a recent gathering held at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo, where Governor Ademola Adeleke and some officials of the Accord Party reportedly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.
In a statement released on Monday by its National Coordinator, the movement maintained that the meeting lacked constitutional backing and could not determine the political direction of the Accord Party or invalidate the wishes of its members.
GHSM stressed that the party’s presidential mandate, which it said was freely given to Dr. Gbenga Hashim during the nationwide direct primary held on May 30, 2026, remains valid and cannot be overturned through political negotiations or unofficial meetings.
According to the group, Dr. Hashim emerged as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate through a process conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The movement argued that no gathering outside the party’s established constitutional framework has the authority to reverse that outcome, describing the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as invalid, unconstitutional and politically insignificant.
GHSM also accused Governor Adeleke of engaging in anti-party activities, alleging that government resources were being used in an attempt to take control of the Accord Party and weaken its presidential ambition in favour of another political platform.
The group insisted that Nigerians would reject any attempt to impose a one-party system or manipulate the country’s democratic process, adding that the Accord Party belongs to its members rather than individuals pursuing personal political interests.
Expressing confidence ahead of the 2027 general election, GHSM described Dr. Hashim as a credible and unifying candidate capable of leading the country. It added that supporters across all 774 local government areas would intensify grassroots mobilisation to secure victory at the polls.
The movement further noted that the legal dispute over the Accord Party’s presidential nomination is currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where proceedings have been concluded and judgment is being awaited.
GHSM maintained that making political declarations on issues already before the court was inappropriate and reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the case through every available legal avenue if necessary.
It concluded by stating that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election would ultimately be determined by Nigerian voters rather than political meetings or endorsements.
