A Canada-based Nigerian woman, Prophetess Ezinne Nwanorue, has stirred widespread reactions on social media after celebrating the death of her mother-in-law in a Facebook post, where she described the deceased as a “wicked witch.”
Ezinne shared the funeral poster of her late mother-in-law, Comfort Nwanorue, on Monday alongside a series of posts expressing her feelings about the woman’s death. In the posts, she accused her late mother-in-law of working against her destiny and claimed that God had empowered her to overcome those she described as witches and evil people.
She further urged people to repent and accept Christ, while making several other religious declarations regarding those she believed had wronged her.
The post quickly went viral, attracting mixed reactions from social media users. While some expressed concern over the public nature of the remarks, many criticised her for celebrating the death of her husband’s mother.
The incident comes shortly after Ezinne and her husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue, drew public attention over a controversial oath linked to his relocation to Canada.
According to reports, Ezinne required her husband to publicly declare that he would never be unfaithful after moving abroad. She reportedly instructed him to record a video stating that if he ever cheated on her in Canada, he should die, saying the directive was inspired by God.
In the widely circulated video, Franklin agreed to the condition and pledged to remain faithful to his wife while promising to be a responsible husband and father.
However, Ezinne later alleged on Facebook that her husband had broken the oath by becoming involved with another woman despite making the public declaration.
Her latest post regarding her mother-in-law’s death has once again placed the family’s personal dispute in the spotlight.
As of the time of this report, Franklin Nwanorue and other members of the family had not publicly commented on the controversy.
