The spokesman for former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Ladipo Johnson, has revealed that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is unhappy with the ongoing leadership dispute within the OK Movement.
Johnson disclosed this during an interview on Arise Television, where he described the crisis as a temporary distraction that should not affect efforts to build a strong political platform ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to him, disagreements among members of the movement should not lead to actions that could damage the support base of the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso alliance.
“Yes, we have, may I call it a distraction at the moment. It is not such, in my own humble opinion, that would lead you to take unilateral actions that could possibly scuttle or bring bad blood within the support base of the person you purportedly want to become the president of the country,” Johnson said.
He urged members and supporters to remain focused on strengthening the movement’s structures across the country rather than allowing internal disagreements to create division.
Johnson explained that the dispute arose from differences between some members and the leadership of the movement but expressed optimism that the issues would be resolved.
He also disclosed that Obi had been informed about the situation and was not pleased with the development.
“I saw the presidential candidate last night along with the DG. He’s not happy about the whole situation,” he said.
The OK Movement was created as a platform to mobilise support for a possible political alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Despite the current tensions, Johnson maintained that the disagreement would not derail the movement’s larger goal of creating a credible political alternative for Nigerians.
