OGUN POLICE SUSTAIN OPERATIONAL MOMENTUM: RESCUE ABDUCTED VICTIM IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS, ARREST 24 SUSPECTS, RECOVER FOUR FIREARMS, 11 LIVE CARTRIDGES, VEHICLES AND STOLEN ASSETS

OGUN POLICE SUSTAIN OPERATIONAL MOMENTUM: RESCUE ABDUCTED VICTIM IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS, ARREST 24 SUSPECTS, RECOVER FOUR FIREARMS, 11 LIVE CARTRIDGES, VEHICLES AND STOLEN ASSET

 

The Ogun State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, has sustained proactive and intelligence-led operations under Operation KOSAYE, recording the rescue of an abducted victim in less than 24 hours, arrest of 24 suspects, recovery of four firearms, 11 live cartridges, two vehicles, a stolen motorcycle and other stolen assets across different parts of the State.

 

1. OBANTOKO DIVISION ARRESTS BURGLARY AND VANDALISM SUSPECT, RECOVERS STOLEN ASSETS

 

On 23rd July, 2026, at about 1030hrs, the Obantoko Division received an anonymous tip-off that an intruder had been caught within Goshen Estate, Obantoko, allegedly vandalising and stealing installed equipment.

 

Police personnel mobilised to the location, arrested Ibrahim Aliyu ‘M’ and recovered one industrial air conditioner unit and two generator sets which had been dismantled.

 

Investigation is ongoing to establish his involvement and possible links to other burglary and vandalism activities.

 

2. OWODE-EGBA DIVISION ARRESTS SUSPECTED RAPIST AND ARMED ROBBER

 

On 26th July, 2026, at about 1400hrs, a female complainant reported at Ofada Outpost that she was allegedly taken to a nearby bush at knifepoint by Zacheus Joseph ‘M’, aged 27 years, while visiting an acquaintance at Abaren Village, via Ofada.

 

The suspect allegedly assaulted her and stole an iPhone 11, Samsung Galaxy A13 and HP laptop.

 

Acting on information from community members, Police personnel arrested the suspect the same day while allegedly attempting to dispose of one of the stolen phones.

 

Investigation is ongoing to establish culpability and recover the remaining property.

3. IBARA DIVISION RECOVERS STOLEN TOYOTA CAMRY

 

On 27th July, 2026, at about 1017hrs, Detectives attached to Ibara Division acted on information concerning a Toyota Camry.

 

The vehicle was recovered and subsequently confirmed to have been reported stolen on 26th July, 2026, under Oke Itoku Division. The rightful owner was contacted.

 

4. IPERU DIVISION RESCUES ABDUCTED VICTIM IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS

 

On 27th July, 2026, at about 2015hrs, the Iperu Division received a distress call concerning the abduction of Sotonwa Oluwameyowa ‘M’, aged 29 years, along Ogere Road, Orisunmibare, Iperu-Remo.

 

Police personnel immediately mobilised with So-Safe Corps and Amotekun and commenced a coordinated search of the surrounding forest.

 

The pressure from the joint team forced the abductors to flee, leading to the rescue of the victim less than 24 hours after the abduction was reported.

 

The victim, who sustained an injury during the incident, was taken for medical attention and is responding to treatment. Efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

 

5. AJUWON DIVISION RECOVERS DOUBLE-BARREL GUN AND TEN LIVE CARTRIDGES

 

On 28th July, 2026, at about 1620hrs, the Ajuwon Division received a report of an alleged violent assault and unlawful possession of a firearm along Ifedayo Street, Ajuwon.

 

Investigation revealed that Dolapo ‘M’ allegedly assaulted the complainant and subsequently retrieved a double-barrel gun from his residence before fleeing.

 

A search of the residence led to the recovery of one double-barrel gun and ten live cartridges.

 

The complainant was assisted in obtaining medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

 

6. EWEKORO DIVISION FOILS CATTLE RANCH INVASION, ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS, RECOVERS VEHICLE

 

On 30th July, 2026, at about 0330hrs, the Ewekoro Division received an anonymous distress call concerning an ongoing invasion of a cattle ranch at Powerline, Itori.

 

Detectives immediately responded and arrested Abubakar Bello ‘M’ and Jacob Bamidele ‘M’, while other members of the group fled.

 

A white Ford bus, believed to have been used by the group, was recovered at the scene.

 

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplices.

 

7. ATAN IJEBU DIVISION ARRESTS SUSPECTED MURDERER

 

On 30th July, 2026, at about 0745hrs, a report was received concerning an assault at Alimafo area which resulted in the death of Umaru Musa ‘M’, aged 22 years.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that Shaibu A ‘M’, aged 22 years, allegedly attacked the deceased following an earlier disagreement involving the deceased’s younger brother.

 

Following coordinated efforts by Police personnel and members of the local community, the suspect was traced and arrested.

 

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

8. IBOGUN DIVISION RAIDS SUSPECTED CULTISTS’ HIDEOUT, ARRESTS 17, RECOVERS FIREARM

 

On 31st July, 2026, at about 0240hrs, acting on credible intelligence that suspected cultists had gathered at Ibogun Shomi area for an alleged initiation, a combined team of Anti-Robbery, Surveillance and Patrol personnel, raided the location and arrested seventeen (17) suspects, namely:

1. Ayankunle Isaiah ‘M’, 24 years

2. Oluyemi Michael ‘M’, 25 years

3. Olsesi Abayomi ‘M’, 23 years

4. Bello David ‘M’, 21 years

5. Adams Yusuf ‘M’, 21 years

6. Temitope Adesoji ‘M’, 28 years

7. Ashipa Sodiq ‘M’, 30 years

8. Kolade Oluwaseun ‘M’, 30 years

9. William Michael ‘M’, 21 years

10. Hussain Samuel ‘M’, 26 years

11. Oyewole Basit ‘M’, 20 years

12. Samuel Olusegun ‘M’, 20 years

13. Ifadire Olamilekan ‘M’, 20 years

14. Daniel Chigozie ‘M’, 18 years

15. Seyi Ridwan ‘M’, 24 years

16. Achika Waliu ‘M’, 28 years

17. Ridwan Odukoya ‘M’, 22 years

 

One locally fabricated short gun and one axe were recovered at the scene.

 

The suspects and exhibits will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and further necessary action.

 

9. OWODE DIVISION ARRESTS MOTORCYCLE THIEF, RECOVERS STOLEN BAJAJ

 

On 31st July, 2026, at about 1430hrs, Detectives attached to Owode Division, working with local vigilante members, arrested Abubakar Umaru ‘M’ in connection with the theft of a Bajaj motorcycle.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and an accomplice, now at large, allegedly used a master key to steal the motorcycle while it was parked in front of the Central Mosque, Ajilete Yewa.

 

The motorcycle was recovered, while efforts continue to apprehend the accomplice.

 

10. AGBADO DIVISION RECOVERS TWO LOCALLY MADE PISTOLS AND LIVE CARTRIDGE

 

On 31st July, 2026, at about 1640hrs, Detectives attached to the Anti-Robbery and Patrol Team of Agbado Division acted on information from a vigilant resident concerning suspicious objects found on a perimeter wall.

 

The team recovered two locally made pistols and one live cartridge abandoned on the fence.

 

The firearms have been secured for further examination, while investigation continues to identify those responsible.

 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commends the personnel for their prompt response and operational alertness, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations, strategic patrols and rapid response. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and continue providing timely, credible information to the Police.
