President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the participation of a high-level Federal Government delegation at the maiden Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NDIEC), which will be held in Toronto, Canada, from August 12 to 15, 2026.
The delegation will be led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) announced this in a statement issued by its Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
According to NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the calibre of the delegation reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening trade, investment and economic ties between Nigeria and Canada.
The conference, themed “Invest Nigeria, Thrive Abroad,” is designed to connect members of the Nigerian diaspora, international investors and business leaders with investment opportunities across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The Nigerian delegation includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Also expected to attend are Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal.
Other members of the delegation include former presidential aide Ita Enang, the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Revenue Service and the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi; the Executive Director of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni; and the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, will also participate.
On the Canadian side, participants will include senior government officials such as the President of the Treasury Board of Canada, Shafqat Ali; Ontario’s Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, Graham McGregor; Ontario Minister of Women and Economic Opportunities, Charmaine Williams; Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown; Brampton Councillor Rod Power; and Ontario lawmaker Deepak Anand.
NiDCOM said the conference is being organised in partnership with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, the Canadian High Commission in Abuja and other local and international stakeholders.
The commission added that the event will focus on attracting investments into high-impact sectors that are considered vital to Nigeria’s economic growth and long-term development.
