FRIENDS ANNOUNCE LAGOS CANDLELIGHT TRIBUTE FOR LATE ACTRESS TEMITOPE OSOBA

Friends and colleagues of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba have announced a candlelight and artist night in remembrance of the actress.

The event, themed “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” will take place on Tuesday, August 11, at LTV 8 (Blueroof), Ikeja, Lagos, with activities scheduled to begin by 5pm.

The announcement was made through a flyer shared on Osoba’s official Instagram page on Friday. Organisers said the gathering would provide an opportunity to celebrate her life, artistic contributions and the impact she made in the entertainment industry.

“Her voice, her art, her spirit… will remain in our hearts,” the organisers said.

The tribute event comes days after the actress passed away at the age of 40. Her death was announced by fellow actor Alesh Sanni, who described Osoba as his “dearest sister” and expressed shock over the loss.

“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again,” Sanni wrote in an emotional Instagram post.

Actress Adeyemo Seilat also joined others in mourning Osoba, describing her death as painful and praying for her eternal rest.

Osoba’s death came about two years after she publicly revealed her battle with cancer and appealed for support during her treatment. After recovering, she announced her return to Nollywood in August 2025, describing the experience as a life-changing journey.

She said she was returning to the industry with a renewed passion for healing, growth and empowerment, while also expressing her commitment to using her platform to create awareness about cancer and support others facing similar challenges.

The actress also appreciated her management team and supporters who stood by her during her health struggles, while indicating her readiness to take on new acting roles, endorsements and collaborations.

Meanwhile, Osoba’s family has urged the public to ignore unverified reports about the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a statement shared through her official social media page, the family described some claims circulating online as “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized,” adding that any official information would be released through approved channels.

The statement was signed by the Family of Awonuga/Osoba, who appealed for privacy as they mourn their loss.

Known for her roles in Yoruba-language Nollywood productions, Temitope Osoba was remembered by fans and colleagues for her talent, creativity and dedication to the film industry.

The August 11 tribute night is expected to bring together her family, friends, colleagues, fellow artistes and admirers to celebrate her life and preserve her memory.
