The Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CAGRAM), a coalition of more than 20 All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups in Lagos State, has inaugurated the Iyaloja of Computer Village, Ikeja, Chief Mrs. Abisola Azeez, as the organisation’s matron.
The coalition also called on its members to step up grassroots mobilisation and encourage voter registration ahead of future elections.
The investiture ceremony, held at Chief Azeez’s office in Computer Village, Ikeja, attracted leaders and members of the various APC support groups, market women, party supporters and other community stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Chairman of CAGRAM, Prince Fatai Balogun, said the coalition was created to unite APC grassroots support groups under one platform, strengthen party cohesion and coordinate mobilisation efforts across the state.
He explained that Chief Azeez was honoured in recognition of her dedication to community development, grassroots empowerment and unwavering support for the ideals of the APC.
According to him, her appointment as matron reflects her exemplary leadership and longstanding contributions to grassroots politics and community service.
The ceremony was attended by CAGRAM executives, coalition members and traders from Computer Village, who applauded the decision to honour the respected market leader.
In her acceptance speech, Chief Mrs. Azeez thanked the leadership and members of the organisation for the recognition and pledged to support the coalition in achieving its objectives.
“I sincerely appreciate this honour and the confidence you have reposed in me. I will continue to contribute my best to support the organisation and ensure we achieve our shared goals,” she said.
Following the investiture, participants held an interactive session where they discussed strategies for strengthening grassroots mobilisation and increasing community participation in the democratic process.
Chief Azeez encouraged party members to remain united and work together in advancing the goals of the APC.
A key resolution reached during the meeting was the need to intensify voter education and awareness campaigns across communities.
Members were urged to encourage eligible Nigerians to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing voter registration as an essential civic responsibility and a crucial step towards strengthening democracy.
Speakers at the meeting stressed that sustained engagement with residents, market associations, youth groups and community organisations remains vital to the party’s future electoral success.
The event concluded with Islamic prayers, reaffirming CAGRAM’s commitment to fostering unity among APC support groups, strengthening grassroots structures and promoting wider voter participation as preparations gradually begin for future elections in Lagos State.
