ONDO LAWMAKER SURVIVES CONVOY CRASH AS AIDES SUSTAIN INJURIES IN COMNERCIAL BUS COLLISION

The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Donald Ojogo, has escaped serious injury after his convoy was involved in a road accident along the Ore–Ondo highway at the weekend.

The crash reportedly involved one of the vehicles in Ojogo’s two-car convoy and a commercial bus. While the lawmaker escaped without major injuries, some members of his entourage were said to have sustained injuries.

Ojogo was reportedly travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political engagement when the accident occurred.

Preliminary accounts attributed the crash to the driver of the commercial bus, who was allegedly attempting a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre before colliding with an oncoming vehicle. Ojogo also described the driver’s actions as reckless and driven by impatience.

The lawmaker, who recently secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to return to the National Assembly, said the incident could have resulted in a far more tragic outcome.

“God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident,” Ojogo said.

Those who sustained injuries were reportedly taken to a nearby hospital, where they received medical attention.

Ojogo expressed gratitude that no life was lost, describing the outcome as an act of divine intervention. He also thanked God for sparing his life and those of his team members.

The lawmaker used the incident to draw attention to the dangers of reckless driving, particularly on major highways, urging motorists to exercise greater caution and patience while travelling.
