Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been eliminated from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after losing 1–0 to Cameroon in their quarter-final clash on Sunday.
The defending champions struggled to break down the Indomitable Lionesses, who secured the narrow victory and ended Nigeria’s hopes of retaining the continental title.
The result comes despite Nigeria’s impressive 6–2 victory over Egypt in their final group-stage match, which had boosted expectations of another deep run in the tournament.
The quarter-final defeat also means the Super Falcons missed out on an automatic qualification ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria will now have to pursue an alternative qualification route to secure a place at the global tournament.
