KADUNA GOVERNMENT MOURNS VETERAN JOURNALIST, JAFARU MAITAMA

The Kaduna State Government has expressed sadness over the death of veteran journalist and media leader, Comrade Jafaru Yakubu Maitama, publisher of TERMS Magazine and National President of the Muslim Media Publishers Association of Nigeria (MMPAN).

The condolence message was issued on Monday in Kaduna by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, on behalf of Governor Uba Sani.

Maiyaki described Maitama as a “consummate professional”, noting that his contributions to journalism, Islamic media and nation-building would be greatly missed.

According to the commissioner, the late journalist was committed to maintaining high ethical standards throughout his career and used his media platform to promote peace, objective journalism and good governance in Kaduna State and across Nigeria.

The state government extended its condolences to Maitama’s immediate family, friends, colleagues, MMPAN and the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

“On behalf of the Executive Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the government, and the good people of Kaduna State, we offer our deepest sympathies to his immediate family at this moment of grief,” Maiyaki said.

He prayed that Allah would grant the deceased’s family, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

The commissioner also reaffirmed the Kaduna State Government’s support for the media profession, describing Maitama as a distinguished journalist who dedicated his career to using the power of the press for peace, accountability and societal development.
