Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists on a military position in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attack occurred on September 7, 2026, as Nigerian forces continued counter-terrorism operations in the area.
The troops, supported by the Nigerian Air Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force, held their position despite the intensity of the assault and responded with sustained firepower, preventing the attackers from overrunning the military location.
The terrorists were eventually forced to withdraw after suffering casualties.
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai provided intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support during the engagement and later carried out precision strikes against identified hostile elements as they attempted to retreat.
One soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm during the confrontation. He was evacuated for medical treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
Following the withdrawal of the terrorists, troops began exploitation operations to assess the damage inflicted on the attackers, recover abandoned weapons and equipment, and gather intelligence for possible follow-up operations.
The military said it would continue its offensive against terrorist groups in the North-East while taking measures to protect civilians and maintain security in the affected communities.
