Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has criticised Peter Obi over his appearance at the unveiling of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential campaign office in Abuja.
Sani questioned Obi’s decision to attend the event, suggesting that the former Anambra State governor was supporting another presidential aspirant while pursuing his own bid for the presidency.
In a social media post, Sani used a soft drink analogy to describe Obi’s political position, saying he was “selling Pepsi” while promoting “Coke.”
Obi attended the unveiling of Makinde’s campaign office on Monday and spoke positively about Makinde’s ability to lead the country.
During the event, Obi said Makinde was qualified to contest for the presidency and maintained that Nigerians should ultimately be allowed to choose their preferred candidate through a free, fair and credible election.
The former Anambra governor also called on opposition leaders and political parties to put aside their differences and focus on addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.
Obi said political disagreements should not prevent leaders from working together to improve the lives of Nigerians, regardless of who eventually wins the 2027 presidential election.
Makinde is seeking the presidency ahead of the 2027 election, while Obi is also preparing to contest the election.
Sani’s comments have added to the political reactions surrounding the growing activities of opposition politicians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
