Fresh uncertainty has emerged over the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its 2027 candidates following a recent Supreme Court ruling on party membership registers and primary elections.
The ruling has raised questions about the eligibility of some candidates, including the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda.
However, the Supreme Court did not specifically nullify Chinda’s candidacy in its judgment. The Rivers State APC has also dismissed reports that his ticket has been cancelled, insisting that he remains the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The development has nevertheless sparked renewed legal discussions over the party’s primary process and the membership records submitted ahead of the exercise.
