The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has directed heads of federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to intensify grassroots communication on the achievements and reforms of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Akume also said his office is prepared to provide the necessary institutional support to the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals as it seeks to mobilise 10 million votes for President Tinubu.
He gave the directive on Friday when he received a delegation from the Forum, led by its Convener and Chairman, Kazeem Raji, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
According to a statement by Chris Ugwuegbulam, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the SGF, Akume, who was represented by Permanent Secretary in the Political and Economic Affairs Office, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, commended the Forum for organising itself as a coordinated body with a shared objective.
The SGF said the Forum’s proposed target of mobilising 10 million votes could be pursued through its existing structures and networks.
Akume urged the CEOs to take information about government policies and reforms to communities across the country, saying this would help address what he described as disinformation surrounding the administration’s economic reforms.
“In your various domains where your power is operative, ensure that people become aware of these achievements. Push this message down to the grassroots,” he said.
He added that the Forum, as one of the groups involved in driving federal government projects, was positioned to communicate the Renewed Hope Agenda within its respective agencies and areas of operation.
Akume also assured the CEOs that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation would provide institutional support for their activities and urged the Forum to establish a structured framework for continued collaboration.
He further stressed the importance of effective communication between the Forum and the OSGF to ensure that its activities, objectives and initiatives are properly tracked.
Earlier, Raji disclosed that the Forum intended to support the mobilisation of 10 million votes for Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election.
He said the Forum would rely on what he described as lawful, ethical, peaceful and issue-based grassroots engagement, using the professional and community networks associated with federal agencies across the country.
Raji also said one of the Forum’s major objectives was to bridge the communication gap between government policies and Nigerians.
He stressed that the administration’s achievements, reforms and measurable outcomes should be documented and communicated accurately to the public.
Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Affairs Office, Chidiebere Ezeamama, also urged the Forum to establish an effective communication network with the OSGF.
He proposed the creation of a centralised digital platform to facilitate real-time information sharing, coordinate participation among agencies and monitor developmental milestones.
The development comes as political parties and candidates intensify activities ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
