Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has met with Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, to explore how the creative industry can help rebuild public trust in the Nigeria Police Force, particularly among young Nigerians.

The meeting was held at the Police House in Lagos on Saturday, October 3, 2026, as part of efforts by the police leadership to engage influential stakeholders and strengthen relations between the Force and the public.
During the meeting, Disu and Burna Boy discussed ways the entertainment industry could contribute to improving the public perception of the police and strengthening police-community relations.
The IGP said the engagement was part of his administration’s broader effort to collaborate with stakeholders across different sectors of society to improve the image of the Nigeria Police Force and restore public confidence in the institution.

Disu noted that the creative industry has significant influence among young Nigerians and could play an important role in shaping public conversations, promoting understanding and creating stronger connections between police officers and the communities they serve.
He also highlighted the potential of the creative sector, often referred to as the Orange Economy, to create opportunities while serving as a bridge between the police and the wider public.
According to the IGP, rebuilding confidence in the police requires collaboration beyond the security sector, with creatives and other influential members of society playing a role in improving communication between the Force and Nigerians.

Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, expressed support for the initiative and indicated his willingness to contribute to efforts aimed at improving relations between the police and Nigerian youths.
The engagement comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force, particularly among young people who have historically had strained relations with the institution.
The discussions also emphasised the influence of music, entertainment and popular culture in shaping attitudes and creating conversations around policing and community relations.
The meeting between Disu and Burna Boy is therefore being viewed as an attempt to use the reach of Nigeria’s entertainment industry to open new channels of communication between the police and the younger generation.
The initiative brings together the police, the creative industry, youths, media and other stakeholders in an effort to improve public understanding, strengthen community engagement and rebuild confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
